Pediatric Clinic Kragujevac – Hematology/Oncology Ward

SAMA did this project in collaboration with NURDOR (In Serbian: Nacionalno Udruženje Roditelja Dece Obolele of Raka). Nurdor is organization of parents and friends of children treated with cancer and their families with the mission of improving the quality of treatment and the lives of diseased children and their families. Nurdor was founded in 2003 in Belgrade.
Early in 2018, people from Nurdor articulated the need for reconstructing the hematology/oncology ward at the Pediatric Hospital, which was up to then operating under very inadequate conditions. They engaged with national humanitarian project and the TV series “With Tamara in Action (link), which typically help restore and refurbish family homes in Serbia, to help with the renovation of this ward. The renovation was finished in May 2018.
By that time, Nurdor arranged for donations of medical furniture (hospital beds, other furniture) and they needed to help with providing necessary medical equipment. SAMA expressed desire to help providing laminar hood, platelet agitator, 8 infusion pumps and syringe pump, 2 pulse oxymeters, patient monitor, blood pressure monitor and wheelchair. Exact value of SAMA donation was $32,776.39, and big part of it was procured without paying PDV (saving us 20%).
Fundraiser event for collecting funds for this project was organized in Chicago, in early June, and was sponsored by Mr. Antonije Keljević who is from Kragujevac area, and has been engaged in numerous humanitarian projects. SAMA collected over $36,000 for single evening, more than enough to fund the complete project in Kragujevac.
Subsequently, SAMA engaged with multiple vendors to provide all the required equipment. We visited the hospital in June, and again in October with Mr. Keljević to celebrate the success of the complete project and opening of the ward.
October 11th, 2018: Laminar flow, platelet agitator and pulse oxymeters delivered to Children’s Clinic in Kragujevac
This delivery completes SAMA’s project (together with Nurdor) to equip the hematology/oncology ward at Children’s Hospital in Kragujevac. Newly renovated and fully equipped ward will help hospital staff ensure that small patients have the best conditions and chances for recovery.
October 2nd, 2018: Project Kragujevac Update
The project for equipping hematology/oncology ward at the Pediatric Clinic in Kragujevac with all the necessary equipment will be hopefully hopefully complete later this week when laminar flow, platelet agitator and 2 pulse oxymeters are delivered. So far SAMA delivered patient monitor, 8 infusion pumps and syringe pump, blood pressure monitor and a new wheelchair. On October 2nd, Dr. Ivan Aksentijevich and Zoran Mladenović visited the hematology/oncology ward together with Mr. Antonije Keljević who sponsored fundraising event for collecting the funds, and representatives from Nurdor Jolanda Korora, President, and Branislava Penov. August 16th, 2018: Infusion and Syringe Pumps delivered to Children’s Hospital in Kragujevac
Today, Trivax delivered 8 infusion pumps Codan Argus A717V and a syringe pump Codan Argus A616S to Hematology/Oncology Ward of Children’s Hospital in Kragujevac. Trivax staff also trained the nurses on how to use these pumps.
August 3rd, 2018: Patient Monitor delivered to Children’s Hospital in Kragujevac
Today, Mr. Negoslav Djaja from Hapel delivered the patient monitor Bionet BM5 to Hematology/Oncology Ward of Children’s Hospital in Kragujevac.
