Mission statement
Serbian American Medical Association (SAMA) is a not-for-profit organization whose primary mission is to help Serbian American physicians and other medical professionals excel in patient care, and support their professional and humanitarian aspirations to improve health care conditions, patient care and medical education in Serbia.
SAMA was registered in Maryland in 2009 and was granted 501(c)(3) status in September 2010.
SAMA’ s activities are supported by its membership dues, donations, and grants.
Education and Humanitarian programs will enable SAMA to achieve its planned exempt purpose. These activities will be supported by volunteers, fundraising activities, donations, and grants.
SAMA’ s Education Program
One of SAMA’s main education activity will be the Summer Visiting Students Guest Observer Program that will provide a unique opportunity for Serbian Medical Students and young physicians to be exposed to the US health care system and standard of practice.
SAMA will sponsor and support seminars and meeting that will target specific populations, including children, women and medical professionals.
SAMA will promote cooperation and exchange between present and future generations of physicians in Serbia and in the United States.
SAMA’ s Humanitarian Program
SAMA will help with resources, material, services and expertise. Projects will be chosen according to merit and feasibility. All projects will be controlled and overseen by SAMA.
